For three years I worked as an attendant and workshop host at Snug, a project housed from 2022-2025 in the Anatomy Rooms in Aberdeen. Snug initially started as a warm space project, providing people with free access to creative materials, and soon grew into its own creative community. In 2025 our programme started a little later than usual, so we decided to provide a different offering for the spring/summer period- Grow.

As part of this programme I hosted a workshop series ‘Seeing & Looking’, in which participants explored the ways they view the world around them, using a combination of guided photography and collage tasks, resulting in two zines- “A Day in Life” and “My Manifesto”. This programme included some of the teaching and techniques explored in my Therapeutic Photography workshops, while incorporating the variation of working in collage and more expressively as well.

In addition to my own course, I also assisted textile designer Helen Greensmith with her ‘Stitch and Print Textiles’ course, which focused on the creation of a fabric wallhanging inspired by the theme of our course- grow. Over the four weeks we explored different techniques such as leaf printing, embroidery and embellishment, fabric collage and foiling.
At the completion of all the Grow courses a group exhibition was held in June 2025 the Arkade Gallery space at the Anatomy Rooms, showcasing the array of works made by the participants. Shortly after the completion of this project, Arkade Studios was itself to close, ending an era for both the resident artists and the Snug attendees.
